A State House meeting that had been billed as part of Jubilee onslaught on ODM zones turned sour after Kisii and Nyamira ODM MCAs refused to decamp to Jubilee.
Unknown to the organizers, the Gusii grassroots leaders had met ODM officials yesterday until very late in the evening and the trip was being monitored closely by the party’s national secretariat.
A number of the MCAs who turned up at State House were also said to have met ODM Leader Raila Odinga who encouraged them to go listen to the President.
The MCAs confided to Mr. Odinga their dilemma as not going would have been used to attack them and the ODM Party as ‘anti-development’. However, as the meeting progressed, it was clear that development was not top on the agenda as Jubilee merger politics took centre-stage.
“The President wanted us to join the Jubilee bandwagon but we told him some of us are in ODM until we get very old,” said Shem Ondari, the Leader of Majority Party.
