A new poll by Trends & Insights For Africa Research Ltd (TISA) has shown incumbent Nairobi governor Dr. Evans Kidero would win ahead of Senator Mike Sonko with other candidates polling less than one percent of the vote in next year’s elections.
The polls dents a blow to Water CS Eugene Wamalwa whose late entrance in the race has been causing a lot of media hullabaloo but it now appears the press may be leading the water CS where it once led Peter Kenneth – to political oblivion.
Wamalwa’s last week endorsement led to chaos in Jubilee with a group of City Mt. Kenya politicians storming DP Ruto’s office. Ruto is said to be opposed to a Mt. Kenya candidate for Nairobi seat.
Governor Kidero leads with a thin margin at 36% of the vote followed by Mike Sonko at 32%. TNA Chairman Johnson Sakaja has 3% while Eugene has 1%. Nairobi Women Rep Rachel Shebesh would lose to businesswoman Esther Passaris, the poll shows.
In Kiambu, Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu leads with a comfortable margin against incumbent William Kabogo. Waititu would beat Kabogo with almost a double margin while Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi will comfortably retain his seat. However, Kiambu Women Rep Anne Nyokabi would lose to other candidates.
