riting under the headline “RAILA AND THE SCHOOL BURNING: THE LINK”, a piece which was published on the star, one Ngunjiri who is at best known as “a gun for hire” pretended to demystify the ongoing countrywide razing of schools especially in high schools. I say this because the only thing people see of Ngunjiri is a silhouette
Nonetheless, Wambugu’s libelous articles have disqualified himself as a person whose work can be of any reckon. He cannot be trusted. He has no reputation to protect. With the jumbo kickbacks the boy pockets, plus the legal protection afforded to him by powerful Jubilee cartels, the boy thinks no one cannot hold him to account.

He hides behind cartels to damage. God forbid. If he thinks he is worth his onions, let him disclose his benefactors so the people can judge. For now, he is a villain hiding to pillory his unsuspecting subjects.
I am a staunch anti-corruption crusader and a straight-forward political commentator. I fight for the economic advancement of my country. I detest corruption. I often take head on both the high and the mighty whenever I discover that they or those they oversee have caught the corruption bug which manifest in illegality, indiscipline, outright diversion of budgetary allocations and nepotism.
I have always voiced my concerns freely and I grant that every Kenyan has inalienable right to freedom of speech and freedom of expression. As a responsible writer, I always strive to get my facts right before I venture to put pen on paper because as they say, “A drop of ink may make a million think” Being a writer, I also do admire other writers and I read and acknowledge their work because even the Holy Bible says, “Iron sharpeneth iron so a man the countenance of his friend”

I often read Ngunjiri Wambugu’s articles in the Star Newspaper where I once was privileged to maintain one. I admire him for his doggedness and hard work because as a columnist, I know it’s not easy to meet up production deadlines especially on weekly basis. Just when you think you are done with, your editor calls to remind you your next piece is being awaited. As a columnist, it is not easy to write about the corrupt dealings and get away with it especially in a polity like ours where the constitution only guarantees you the freedom of speech and not freedom after speech.
This is why I take exception to Ngunjiri’s piece titled “RAILA AND THE SCHOOL BURNING: THE LINK.” I dare say that the work was absolutely out of character with a few of incisive work he is known for. I readily dare say that by feigning to hurl orals stones at the Prime Minister in his piece, the work in question does not only drip vitriol, wrong assumptions, hatred and misrepresentation but outright distortion of facts to achieve a predetermined end. It is ethical for me to point out that Ngunjiri, whoever he is overly allows hearsay and sentiments to vitiate his reasoning. Ngunjiri never sticks to facts but often descends into the ugly arena of partisanship which I must say are uncharted waters as far as the imbecile is concerned.

Wambugu may be able to write but that does not make him a connoisseur in political and social affairs of the society. Were he a politician cum writer, he would have acknowledged that a political contest is like a war and as they say, in war as in love, fair is foul and foul is fair.
I found him preposterous when he elected to pick out Raila Odinga for most undeserved excoriation over the fire that is bedeviling our schools. Would Wambugu had written that scumbag if Raila was in power or supported Jubilee? Is he having a personal axe to grind with the Prime Minister or has just decided to fight other people’s war? Wambugu has betrayed his motivation which in my reading is ignoble at best, by dragging Raila’s name with frustrations over featherbrained and unproven allegations.
Personally, I have never met Wambugu. Nonetheless, those accustomed to him say he is not only quirky and queer with oversize buttocks but a political terrorist for hire. There are those that say he is sadistic, biased and utterly abominable. Conversely, I don’t know how true these aspersions are. But I have a score to settle with his insinuation that Raila ought to assoil himself of past corruption and school burning allegations before seeking to lead this country. Sincerely, I still fail to fathom how he wants this done.
So, if opponents who find it complex to match Raila’s political stature and winning streak criminate him of being a corrupt arsonist, he should quit the stage and pave way for them? That would be the most uncharitable thing since God created man.
At this juncture, I don’t want to join issues with the short man Ngunjiri don’t also want to stand in for the Prime Minister.

However, I want to ask if getting more than three quarters of the country on your side and fighting the lords of corruption is tantamount to a criminal act. I also want to ask Ngunjiri if a candidate should disqualify himself or be declared unfit to run for a position based on barren and unproven and politically motivated allegations.
The last time I checked, Raila was not a law enforcement officer whose job is to apprehend and try suspected criminals in a court of law. Ngunjiri should trade carefully even if he seeks to maintain the source of his daily bread.
